Mariposa Joins National John Lewis Day of Action – “Good Trouble Lives On”

Mariposa, CA — On Thursday, July 17, community members in Mariposa will join Americans at hundreds of events nationwide to honor the legacy of Congressman John Lewis and fight back against the growing attacks on our civil and human rights.

The local action in Mariposa is part of Good Trouble Lives On — a nationwide day of peaceful, nonviolent action rooted in the legacy of the civil rights movement and inspired by John Lewis’ call to make “good trouble, necessary trouble.”

Participants will gather to demand an end to the authoritarian attacks on our freedom to vote, protest, and organize — and to stand united against efforts to criminalize our communities, roll back our rights, and slash vital public programs.

Local organizers invite press to attend, capture, and uplift the voices of those taking peaceful action in defense of democracy.

Info and Links from Indivisible SF’s Direct Action Safety Monitor Training

Here are the info and links from Indivisible SF’s Direct Action Safety Monitor training held on March 28th. Good info to have for all events – it’s best to be prepared and never have to use!

We hope that, with this knowledge, you’ll be able to prevent situations from escalating and help everyone go home safe.

Here is the video of the training. If you missed part of it, please block off the time and make sure you watch the whole thing. Yes, it’s a lot, but there’s a lot of information in here that you need to know.

Things that you should do RIGHT NOW:

  • Install Signal (secure messenger app) on your phone
  • Set up Signal on your phone—create your account, set your username, join the group chat somebody in your group has created for your action (or be the person who creates it and invites others)

Things that someone on your event’s organizing team should do ASAP:

  • Contact your local NLG chapter and request legal observers at your action
  • Contact your local street medic group (if you have one) and invite them to your action

We mentioned MoveOn’s de-escalation training. That happened on April 2 and has now concluded. You can get those materials, including the one-hour video of that training, here: https://moveon.org/RallyPrep

Have a safe event and we’ll see you at the next protest.

Hands OFF! National Day of Action – Yosemite Area Indivisible

HANDSOFF RALLY

SAT. APRIL 5th

12pm to 2pm

Rd 426 & Hwy 41

Oakhurst, CA

On April 5th, there are massive rallies planned across the country via a coalition of 83 organizations. This includes international labor unions like CWA and SEIU, as well as progressive groups like MoveOn, Indivisible, and DemCast. The event is billed as “Hands Off!” with multiple actions planned on the HandsOff2025 website.

Why it is important to show up and speak out on April

  • We are facing a national crisis. Since his inauguration, Donald Trump has launched an unprecedented power grab—driving up prices, slashing funding for essential programs, and creating instability at every turn. Enabled by Elon Musk and Republicans in Congress, his corrupt agenda is making life harder for everyday Americans while eroding our democracy.
  • We can’t afford to wait any longer to fight back. They think everything belongs to them. Trump and his allies are rapidly stripping America for parts and selling us out—and now Congress is trying to do the same by slashing Medicaid, Social Security, cancer research funding, and more. Why? To give more tax cuts to billionaires.

But the services and jobs they’re slashing aren’t theirs—they’re ours. Our communities are paying the price while the Trumps and Musks of the world cash in. It’s not just about money—it’s about power. his administration is targeting everybody who isn’t part of the 1%—veterans, kids, seniors, farmers, immigrants, transgender people, and political opponents. All to consolidate power and reward their allies.

The lawlessness, cruelty, and corruption has gone too far. On April 5, we unite to say: Hands Off!

Whether you’re outraged by skyrocketing healthcare costs, job cuts, attacks on privacy, or the gutting of essential services—this moment is for you. Whether you’ve been in the fight for years or you’re just fed up and ready to take action—this moment is for you.

We need to build a massive, visible, national rejection of this crisis. On April 5, we will host events across the country, in major cities and small towns in every state. Our goal is to show that the people—the majority—are taking action to stop the corruption and power grab.

The power is in your hands. Join us. If there’s a mobilization in your area, sign up to attend. If not, use this toolkit to host your own in your area.
